Pam & Cam: Baby Bump

•August 16, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Wow it must be a good time in my life if I can actually get more than 1 post out per month. This post is something that I’ve never done before. Yup, it’s a baby bump session and I gotta say, if they’re all as fun and easy-going as this one was then I just might need to try for a few more in my schedule. Then again, with the way Pam and Cam are, I’m sure it’d be fun shooting them no matter what it was for. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, because I definitely am overjoyed with the results.

Tim & Zenia… E-session!

•August 12, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Ah, my very special couple Tim & Zenia. Special for many reasons but also because they’re my only full wedding couple this summer. That’s right, the one and only. *Gasp* how can that be? Easy! Those who know me, know that my summers can get extremely busy. If you’ve been following along here in this snail’s pace of a blog, you’ll also know I went to become a teacher. I’ve also learned to learn from my past mistakes (wow that sounds funny). Overloading in the summer isn’t something I want to do, and therefore I was determined not to overbook myself. It truly has been one of the most enjoyable summers I’ve had in a long time. Working enough to pay some bills by helping my good friends Chris Luk and Silvana Frammartino, trying to be a little more active, making sure I had time to be HOME and helping out, banging on my drums and playing guitar, and of course spending time with some of those who are closest to me by taking a little trip down to NYC.

Enough about me. This is Tim and Zenia. A couple who has entrusted me to capture their special day and who also call True North Climbing their second home. I’m sure those who know them, know to look there first if they are looking for either of them. They wanted to start there, and see how we could implement some of their passion for climbing into their photos. It was definitely something a little different from what I’ve done before, but I thought it was pretty… rocking ( har har, punny…).

Definitely looking forward to the wedding guys! I thought this last one was pretty sweet if I can offer my 2 cents.

James & Suji… Toronto Celebration

•June 29, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Definitely looking forward to this summer more than any other that I’ve had since it’s probably my least overly-booked and busy of my life. I hopefully have learned some lessons from the past and purposely limited the number of bookings, the commitments that I’ve made and made sure that my scheduled appointments in my calendar also include things like “home time”, “family and friends”, “quiet”, “drumming/music time”, as well as the unscheduled things that happen in life. Throw in trying to get my foot into the public education system as a teacher and well… perhaps it’s not as free as I thought, but it’s definitely exciting for me at least.

I received an email a little while back asking if I was available to do a quick 2.5 hour coverage from a friend of mine. Sounded simple enough and so I jumped at the chance. It’s not often that I photograph a couple without meeting them prior to the event, but James & Suji were great. I could always count on Suji’s beaming smile. It lights up the room :). I was slightly nervous considering that I normally have a two shooter team and this time it was just me. If I didn’t get it, I didn’t get it… but thankfully, I think I got it.

It wasn’t until the final 15 minutes or so, when Suji came up to me and said.. “Could we possibly go around and take some pictures?” My heart leapt since I had wanted to take them around for photos from the beginning, but with the scheduling of everything, it just wasn’t an option until the end… I must say, I do like these ones we got. Nice to see I don’t have TOO much off-season rust on me.

Always Coca-Cola…

•February 12, 2011 • 1 Comment

When I was growing up in the 90’s this was the phrase that was always attached to every Coke ad for the longest time. Just wanted to share a shot that I managed to grab last night at an event called A Sweets Affair

Yeah.. this wasn’t really part of the decor for the night specifically, but…. too bad hahah I thought this was so cool.

Welcome to 2011 everyone lol (yes it’s mid-Feb and I’m saying welcome to 2011). Things around here have definitely been quiet. It’s been tough to find, make time to sit here in front of my computer and blog because if I’m sitting in front of the computer, it’s most likely because I’m either,

a) lesson planning for grade 1/2’s

b) putting together assignments that tend to keep coming week after week

c) doing my readings for class

d) writing up papers/reflections about things happened in class

or e) replying to emails trying to get information on workshops and conferences for my fellow teacher candidates.

Yes… I jumped for joy when I got my acceptance into York’s B.Ed program about a year ago, and I’m definitely not regretting my decision to take the offer. On the rare occasion that I get a chance to sit down, and actually process the things that I’m learning, experiencing and struggling my way through, I recognize that it’s been an absolutely amazing ride thus far. Seeing the kids faces light up when I surprise them by visiting on an unscheduled day is an experience everyone needs regularly. Having kids say “today is the best day ever because you came to visit” is one of a number of things that keeps me going in this program, even as I function on less sleep than I thought was possible.

Unfortunately, photography has taken a bit of a back seat in my list of responsibilities, yet every time I get to pick up my camera and integrate it into what I’m doing in my Education program, it brings me back to a place where I remember why I photograph.

.

Because with this camera,

this simple tool in my hand,

is how I get to bring together both

Life & Light like no other.

Final Wedding of 2010: Margaret & Kevin

•December 24, 2010 • 1 Comment

One last wedding of 2010 that I want to share with all of you. These two made Chris and I feel so appreciated that I don’t think I could have asked for a better couple to end off my season. I knew Longo’s offered lots of selection in their stores, but who would’ve thought you could take a bridal party in there and take some photos? Free Starbucks? I’m game! Thanks to the bridal party for trying different things. Hopefully it added to the story of their day. Enjoy!!

Kevin knows how lucky he is to have a wife who is willing to learn guitar to serenade HIM on their wedding day. To his credit, he is definitely a great guy who makes it easy for Margaret to love him THAT much. 🙂

All the best! Thank you for ending off my year with an amazing couple.

Continue to bring out the best in each other.

Sharon & Justin… Married!!

•November 13, 2010 • 1 Comment

The season is complete here at Glendon Tang Photography, and therefore, I have the pleasure of giving you a glimpse of Sharon & Justin’s special day. It’s amazing what you can find just driving around not entirely sure exactly where you’re going, and when a garden is not your destination for photos. It’s definitely not the way every photographer shoots, and I’m sure it’s a little nerve racking for everyone involved, but I guess it just reminds me how important trust is, in the people that you have chosen to be part of your milestone moment.

I’ve known Justin and Sharon for a number of years now, and originally, it just wasn’t likely that I would be the one who got to photograph their wedding… but after some time, and deliberation, we worked it out, and I still remember the day I sent the email to them saying I’m making myself available for them, Sharon replied so quickly with an email saying that I had brightened up her day with that bit of good news. It never ceases to amaze me how much little things that we do can be such big things in other people’s lives. May we all live lives that are aware of the impact we have on those around us. Without further ado, please enjoy these responsibly.. 😉

Jen & Ken Poon: Wedding!!

•October 14, 2010 • 1 Comment

I promised more, so I hope I don’t disappoint. With the end of summer upon us, it’s time to share more memories of what went on this summer here at Glendon Tang Photography. In the brief time that I’ve been able to do this, I’ve always been blessed with some of the greatest couples ever. Ken & Jen are no exception to that, as they have been so patient with me, it only makes me want to put that much more into these priceless captured moments.

Ahh… you might’ve glimpsed a first look earlier in the day, but these guys had two! One for the Chinese dress, and then one with her white dress! The first look… always a special moment!

Jenn & Ken…. may you look back at these and remember the joy and laughter that encompassed this special milestone in your lives…

I know that when you think back to your wedding day down the road, you’ll always jump for joy!
